Stress Free Morning Routine: 5 Tips To Ease Into The Day

Have you ever felt completely frazzled throughout your day like you’re just reacting to one situation after another? I used to feel like that ALL the time! Now, not so much. Don’t get me wrong… it still happens sometimes, but on the whole I have a healthy level of calm throughout my day.

I want to teach you my best tips for creating a stress free morning that will transform your days and you can experience a healthy level of calm too.

I just want to suggest that you don’t need to go from no morning routines to adding all of these in one day. That could stress you out and make you less likely to keep up the new habits.

Instead, I invite you to add one or two at a time at whatever rate you’re comfortable with. Again… this is supposed to INCREASE calm! ;)

Meditate With Your Favorite Essential Oil

My first tip is to use your favorite essential oils during meditation. I recommend Rose oil or InTune by doTERRA.

I put InTune on my third eye which is in the middle of the forehead, between the two eyes. Then, I put Rose over my heart.

Rose oil holds a higher frequency than any other oil! It’s really powerful for healing the heart. This oil also invites you to experience unwavering, unchanging, unconditional love. Now really, who doesn’t need more of that?

InTune is a focus blend. It works to calm the mind which helps bring greater inner peace. I especially love how it quiets my mind and helps me get a deeper level of focus while I meditate. And do you ever find yourself losing focus when you meditate? I know I’m not alone on this one… thoughts all over the place! And yes, that’s part of the process but I love how InTune helps me break through a lot of that noise.

There are so many great oils you can use in your meditation practice. Experiment and see what you like best. I highly recommend picking up a book on the emotional benefits of essential oils. It will transform the way you think of your oils. My favorite book is Essential Emotions.

Water your plants

How simple is this? It may seem too basic to do any good, well…. Except for the plants. It’s very soothing to care for plants in an intentional way. I actually like to talk to them too! I also will add a drop or two of DDR Prime oil to the water to encourage growth. I also find it weirdly satisfying to take the dead leaves off.

This practice truly only needs to take a couple of minutes. But in those couple of minutes, you are helping a living thing be its very best. I like to think that having a morning ritual is the same thing for us. We are taking a little bit of time to help ourselves be the very best we can be.

As a bonus plants are very good listeners and never talk back. Greet them with hope and gratitude for the day! As you take away their dead leaves think about what may not be working in your own life that you need to discard.

Get some sunshine

There is something magical about going for a walk in the morning. It’s hard to describe, but I’m guessing you’ve experienced it before and know what I’m talking about.

I love walking my doggie Chunk in the morning and enjoying my neighbor’s landscaping. Especially the succulents!

Walk somewhere inspiring if you can. Whether it’s by your neighbor’s beautiful yard, the beach, a park, or a downtown waterfront. It doesn’t really matter as much as actually getting out of the house and letting the sunshine into your life.

Did you know sunshine can help improve your sleep, reduce your stress, fights off depression and strengthens your immune system? Yep, true story!

If you’ve got a dog this is awesome for them too. Getting them out to walk regularly helps improve their behavior as it stimulates their brain and curiosity. Wouldn’t you rather your pup sniffing all sorts of scents outside than chewing on your favorite pillow? It’s especially helpful to vary where you walk, so they don’t get bored.

Have a delish cup of your favorite coffee or tea

Don’t skimp out on this. Froth it or whether you love

Starting off the morning with a hot cup of coffee or tea is so relaxing. I love the smell, the taste, and the warmth of it. Actually, I love how it looks too. It stimulates all my senses and I feel a greater sense of openness and ability to handle whatever the day may bring.

And the caffeine helps too. But caffeine-free options are great too. Sitting down to have a cup of coffee (or tea!) makes you slow down just a little bit and enjoy something simple and delicious. It tells your unconscious mind that making time for the simple pleasures in life is a priority.

Take your vitamins

It is a rare person that gets all the minerals, vitamins, and nutrients that their bodies need on a daily basis. That’s the beauty of vitamins. They give your body just what you need to perform at optimal levels.

I’ve tried several brands and by far my favorite is Lifelong Vitality (LLV).

Personally, the biggest things I’ve noticed are a huge difference in my energy levels and a decrease in some stress and pain I was experiencing. Plus, I love that they are great antioxidants and can improve your cellular health.

I know how we fuel our bodies is the foundation of our health and the cool thing is that it's the most controllable part of our health. However, it’s so much easier said than done without supplements.

Alright, those are my top tips for a morning ritual that will increase your calm and reduce stress in your life. So remember to meditate with your favorite oils, water your plants (talking to them is extra credit), get some sunshine, indulge in a cup of coffee or tea, and take your vitamins!
